ESS was organized in 1973 in Culpeper, Virginia to provide the water and wastewater industry with operations service. Subsequently, ESS Laboratory Services was established as the in-house laboratory to support the operating functions. The business is proud of its development and the growth of its professional staff. Our client association includes Fortune 500 companies, as well as the small independent producer and all business levels in between.

ESS has had from its inception a defined external and internal growth program. As a result of these plans, our laboratory capability was extended into the water, food, and dairy fields. The Bedford, VA, facility was added in 1978, a Maryland facility was added in 1979, the Country Water Systems Division was established in 1987 and the Winston-Salem, NC, facility was added in 1992.
